United States Constitution Resource Guide

U.S. Constitution introduction

The U.S. Constitution is one of the essential, core documents of a democratic society.  The U.S. National Archives states that the Constitution “acted like a colossal merger, uniting a group of states with different interests, laws, and cultures…The Constitution united its citizens as members of a whole, vesting the power of the union in the people.”

This resource guide provides basic information about the Constitution, including the full text; historical background; and articles that discuss the document's impact and importance.  This guide also includes information about the amendments, including freedom of expression and assembly; the right to vote; and other personal freedoms.
