APA Style Explained

American Psychological Association (APA) style is used the social and behavioral sciences.

A proper citation will include both an in-text (or parenthetical) citation and an entry in the 'Reference List' at the end of the paper.

 

In-text citations employ an author-date method.

Example: Green eggs and ham are not appealing on a boat (Seuss, 1960).

While entries in the 'Reference List' include all the publication information.

Example: Seuss, D. (1960). Green eggs and ham. Random House.
