Citations and References Guide

MLA Style Explained

The Modern Language Association (MLA) style is typically used in the humanities.

A proper citation will include both an in-text (or parenthetical) citation and an entry in the 'Works Cited' at the end of the paper.

In-text citations employ an author-page method.

Example: Green eggs and ham are not appealing on a boat (Seuss 6).

While entries in the 'Works Cited' include all the publication information.

Example: Seuss, Dr. Green Eggs and Ham. Random House, 1960.
